We employ FIX trading technology as a lever to provide fail-safe electronic trading. FIX Protocol implements BRV’s global electronic trading capability, enabling secure routing of equity trade orders from institutional investment managers to our trading desk, and then to sources of liquidity in domestic and international markets. We also have teamed with leaders such as Fidessa which supports our Global Connectivity and Management Systems, and RealTick which provides one of BRV’s execution management platforms. We support secure redundant links into the global finance community provided by TradeWeb, TNS, ITG, and Bloomberg.
Our Domestic Sales Team
Timothy O’Brien, Executive Vice President – Sales & Trading
Mr. O’Brien has over 25 years of experience in the sales, trading execution, and clearing of domestic equity and taxable fixed income products. Prior to joining Robert Van Securities in 1992, he was an assistant vice president for Sutro & Company and Dean Witter Reynolds, where he worked on BIS (Branch Institutional Sales) teams. Tim is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, with a B.S. in Social Science/Education.
Deric Bagarozza, Sr. Vice President – Institutional Equities
Mr. Bagarozza began his career in equities on the floor of the NYSE, in 1998 with Direct Brokerage Inc., a direct access execution firm which dealt exclusively with buy side institutions. After six years of steady performance, reaching the title of Head Sales Assistant, Mr. Bagarozza was recruited by Lehman Brothers, in March of 2004 to play an integral role at Lehman Direct on the floor of the NYSE. In May of 2007, after three successful years as a sales trader for Lehman Direct, Mr. Bagarozza chose to take his sales talents to BGC Partners, Inc. to better serve his customer base.
Kevin H. Owen, Sr. Vice President – Research Sales
Mr. Owen has over 20 years of experience in the securities industry. Prior to joining Blaylock Robert Van, he was Director, Equity Sales at Barclays Capital and a Senior Vice President in Middle Market Equity Sales at Lehman Brothers. Kevin is a graduate of the University of Washington, with a Master of Arts in Japanese Political Economics and Language, and the State University of New York at Binghamton, with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.
Tarrell Gamble, Vice President – Sales and Trading
Mr. Gamble provides back office support to the institutional trading desk. In addition to trade reconciliation functions, Mr. Gamble assists the sales team with marketing campaigns. A recent graduate of San Francisco State University, Mr. Gamble holds a B.S. in Finance and a B.S. in Banking. Mr. Gamble is a Registered Representative and Investment Advisor Representative.
Josh Granite, Vice President – Institutional Equities
Mr. Granite began his Wall Street career as a trader for RADAR Executions, on the floor of the NYSE, in September of 1995. After becoming a broker for the investment banking firm, Robertson Stephens, in August of 1998, he ascended to become the head broker for Trinity Trading Corp. in 2002. After successfully expanding Trinity’s customer base and revenue over the next several years, Josh left the floor of the NYSE so he could offer his customer base a more productive platform in the form of an institutional sales trader at BGC Partners Inc. He graduated with a BA from the University of Dayton in 1993.
